Get Answers About What’s Causing Your Your Chest Pain Without The Wait

Whether it's chest tightness you notice on the stairs, chest pain that comes and goes, or a discomfort that's been quietly nagging at you, you deserve an answer about what’s causing your chest pain, not a prolonged wait.

Chest pain should always be taken seriously. Whilst it’s often caused by something very manageable, it can sometimes indicate more serious conditions like early coronary artery disease or angina where early diagnosis makes an enormous difference.

One Heart Clinic provides rapid and direct access to leading cardiology experts. Your heart is in expert hands.

This package may be right for you if you:

  • Experience chest pain, tightness, or pressure, particularly during physical activity, walking upstairs, or at times of stress.
  • Have a family history of heart disease or have been told you're at increased cardiovascular risk.
  • Have risk factors such as high blood pressure, raised cholesterol, diabetes, or a history of smoking.
  • Have already had tests that were inconclusive and want a definitive answer.
  • Feel something isn't quite right and want to know for certain.

DELIVERING EXCELLENCE

Gold-Standard Care For Peace Of Mind

We combine the most clinically effective non-invasive investigations for chest pain assessment, all co-ordinated in one place and reviewed together by a consultant cardiologist. This package is designed by our experts to follow NICE rapid chest pain assessment guidelines, which means you're receiving the same standard of care recommended by the UK's leading clinical authority, without the wait.

Consultation with consultant cardiologist

Your assessment begins with a detailed consultation. Your cardiologist will take a thorough history of your symptoms, alongside your medical history and cardiovascular risk profile. This shapes everything that follows.

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

A quick, non-invasive recording of your heart's electrical activity, used to detect rhythm problems or conduction abnormalities that are useful early indicators. Painless and completed in a few minutes.

Echocardiogram (heart ultrasound)

Real-time ultrasound imaging that checks your heart chambers, valves, and pumping function, giving a clear picture of how your heart is working structurally. This provides important context that other tests alone cannot offer.

Comprehensive blood tests

Blood tests covering cholesterol and lipid profile, blood glucose, thyroid function, and kidney and liver function. This allows us to assess your cardiovascular risk and ensure any treatment recommended is safe and appropriate for you.

CT coronary angiogram

This allows your cardiologist to see whether there is any narrowing, plaque build-up, or blockages in the arteries. Standard tests can miss issues that a CT coronary angiogram will identify. It is the gold-standard non-invasive test for chest pain.

Follow-up & plan

At your follow-up, any findings will be explained clearly in plain language. You'll leave with a concrete plan, whether that’s reassurance and lifestyle advice, medication, or further treatment if needed. Nothing will be left unexplained.

Q&A

Your Questions About Chest Pain, Answered

Chest pain has a wide range of possible causes, and not all of them are cardiac. Cardiac causes include angina (reduced blood flow to the heart), coronary artery disease, pericarditis (inflammation around the heart), and, in emergencies, heart attack. Non-cardiac causes include acid reflux, musculoskeletal issues, anxiety, and respiratory conditions. The challenge is that symptoms can overlap, which is precisely why a proper assessment matters. A CT coronary angiogram, in particular, can definitively rule in or rule out coronary heart disease.

Not always, but it should always be assessed. Chest pain can be a symptom of a serious heart condition. Although the vast majority of people who come through our chest pain pathway turn out not to have significant coronary disease, that reassurance is genuinely valuable. What you want to avoid is assuming everything is fine without checking. Even if the cause turns out to be non-cardiac, your cardiologist will be able to confirm this and direct you appropriately.

Angina is chest pain or discomfort caused by reduced blood flow to the heart, typically triggered by exertion or stress and relieved by rest. It's a symptom of underlying coronary artery disease rather than a disease in itself. Not all chest pain is angina, but if your discomfort is linked to physical activity or emotional stress, it's particularly important to be assessed promptly.

Chest pain is treated as a clinical priority. In many cases we can arrange your full assessment within days of booking, including same or next-day appointments where clinically appropriate.

Your cardiologist will explain the findings clearly and outline the options available to you. For many patients with coronary artery disease, medication and lifestyle changes are highly effective and entirely sufficient. Where intervention such as angioplasty or stenting is indicated, One Heart Clinic has direct pathways into specialist interventional cardiology to ensure your onward care is well coordinated and prompt.

Yes. The CT coronary angiogram scan uses a low dose of radiation and a small amount of contrast dye, which is administered through a cannula in your arm. Your kidney function is checked beforehand, and any allergy history is discussed in advance. The procedure itself takes around 15 to 30 minutes and most people find it very straightforward.

In most cases, yes. Unless you experience a rare reaction to the contrast dye, you will be able to drive home after your CT coronary angiogram.

No. You can self-refer directly for this package. If you have previous test results, a GP letter, or a referral from an occupational health provider, please do share these with us ahead of your visit. They can be helpful, but they’re not required.

Yes. We work with Chrysalis Finance to offer installment plans, subject to status and credit checks, with flexible deposit options and payments spread over several months or years. Please email enquiries@oneheartclinic.com for more information.
